Mountain Falls Travel Guide (Part 1)

Location & Geography: Located to the north of the Badlands, Mountain Falls is home to steep rocky terrain, plentiful sandy beaches, and freshwater lagoons and waterfalls.

Population Details: The exact population of Mountain Falls is unknown. The inhabitants here are mostly amphibious, with a few other less-benign life forms about, including rock creatures and water crabs.

Climate: Tropical.

History:  Before Mountain Falls became a resort area, it was a mining and maritime community founded by migrant workers of centuries past. As rumor spread of hidden wealth in the rugged hills, the beachside area became a favorite destination of not only fortune-seekers, but pirates. The precious minerals were eventually tapped out, and the community came to depend on fishing and tourism as its main source of income. Most of the current residents are descendants of the long-ago miners and pirates, but a few come from a line of immigrant fisherman.

Overview: Warm sunny beaches, labyrinthine caves, wispy palm trees, and sunny, sandy beaches make Mountain Falls a popular get-away for holidaymakers. Three freshwater lagoons allow ample opportunity for swimming, and strong-willed underwater thrill seekers can access the dangerous Water Temple at the base of the largest of the waterfalls. On land, the hillside and underground caves make for a spelunker’s delight. Once a haven for pirates, these caverns still harbor much of the booty stashed there by those long-ago rogues of the sea.

Despite sunny climes, a few of the amphibious residents of Mountain Falls seem to have an attitude problem. (Maybe an overabundance of tourists makes them surly.) Don’t take it personally. It’s worth it to help out the locals with their problems—though they all may not appear appreciative, they will reward you (albeit somewhat reluctantly).

Getting around: Much of Mountain Falls is traversable on foot, but in some places, an Elemental Warrior will be needed. Choose wisely.
