Badlands Travel Guide
Location & Geography: Below the Enchanted Kingdom lie the Badlands, a vast wasteland that provides foot access to the Forgotten Forest Glade, Mountain Falls, and Snow Top Village.
Climate: Desert. Extremely arid, with negligible rainfall.
Overview: The Badlands are aptly named. Barren and bleak, this rough terrain is the site of many an ongoing battle between Thorn’s army and the Enchanted Kingdom’s soldiers. Five Elemental Shrines used to dominate the skyline of this desolate region; two have already been destroyed despite the best efforts of the Elves and their mysterious new leader. Since the energy from these shrines maintains a protective bubble around the Enchanted Kingdom, their survival is critical to the survival of Kameo's family and friends. At some point in your journey, you will be called upon to lend a helping hand as you traverse this desolate land. It’s a good idea to get to know your way around so you can act quickly when needed.
History: Once flourishing with abundant flora and fauna, the Badlands became the expanse of desolation it is today after the Elf-Troll war began. Constant assaults upon the delicate ecosystem created an environment in which very little was able to survive. The Elves hope to one day bring this large area of land back to life, but for now, quashing Kalus and Thorn’s agenda of revenge remains their first priority.
Getting around: Horseback is the easiest way to get around, otherwise, use your wings.
Points of Interest
While the Badlands may not be a place you want to linger, there are a few key sites worth exploring. If you find nothing the first time around, be sure to stop by again later on in the course of your travels.
- Ice Huts (4 total): Before you proceed to Snow Top Village, drop into the Ice Huts that sit to the north and south of the Village’s glacial entrance. Leave no stone—or table, crate, et cetera—unturned. Be careful when entering!
- Forest Huts (4 total): To both the north and south of the Forgotten Forest Glade gateway, you’ll find an assortment of Forest Huts. Stop in and see what treasures await you, but be on the lookout for trouble.
