Elemental Shrine Battle: Save the Water Shrine
After rescuing Lenya and acquiring Chilla in Mountain Falls, you can either warp back to the Enchanted Kingdom for some exploration, or head straight to Snow Top Village. No matter which option you choose, eventually your quest takes you back to the Badlands, en route to Snow Top Village. Just as you are about to head for those cooler climes, Ortho calls on you to protect another endangered Elemental Shrine—the Water Shrine. This time, Troll battleships off the coast are firing mercilessly at the vital object. As with the Forest Shrine, if the Water Shrine falls, so too does the kingdom, and your journey ends.
The objective here is to free up the kingdom’s soldiers around each of the five cannons so they can ready the ordnance for lighting. Once each cannon is in position, it’s also your job to light it. Keep an eye on the Water Shrine’s meter on the left-hand side of your screen; you must light all cannons before the meter runs out.
One of the challenges of defending the Water Shrine is getting there. If your map is not showing, click the left stick to make it appear. The blinking red dot on the map shows you where the Water Shrine is, but beware, as the quickest way to get from point A to point B is not necessarily a straight line! Some impassable terrain lies around the Water Shrine—unless you know the landscape very well, it is best stay on the paths, because detouring could cause you to lose valuable time.
When you arrive at the Water Shrine, you see Trolls sparring with soldiers.
A large ogre ambles around, smashing anything that gets in his way. He will cause trouble if you don’t get rid of him. You can take him down easily—fire several of Chilla’s spears into him, and he falls surprisingly fast.
Next, head towards the row of cannons that lay on the edge of the Shrine’s platform. You’ll need to take out the Trolls that are preventing the kingdom’s soldiers from positioning the cannons. Use Pummel Weed to annihilate the nasty monsters, either by boxing them with a few jabs, or if you’ve upgraded, using the Razor Top method. Be careful not to hit any soldiers who may be working on a cannon; doing so will cost you a bit of time. Once a cannon is in place, change into Ash, and use his Fire Blaze technique to light the fuse. The camera will zoom out and you get to watch as several Trolls are blown sky-high. Light all five cannons, and the Water Shrine is saved!
