Elemental Shrine Battle: Saving the Forest Shrine

Once you leave the Forgotten Forest Glade after rescuing Halis, the Mystic directs you to Mountain Falls. Your journey to Mountain Falls is preempted by a desperate plea from Ortho: Troll tanks are attacking the vital Forest Shrine, and the Enchanted Kingdom’s soldiers are unable to stop them. It is up to you to destroy the tanks. If you fail, the kingdom will be defenseless, and your quest will end. But you have just the tools you need for the job—Pummel Weed and a few explosive shells.

Before you can save the Shrine, you first have to get to it. A blinking red dot on the map indicates your destination. (If your map is not showing, click the left stick to make it appear.) Hop on your trusty steed, and make haste!

You arrive at the Shrine to find Trolls battling Royal soldiers. Morph into Pummel Weed and fight off any Trolls that come your way. Keep your eyes peeled for the two Troll tanks encircling and firing at the Shrine. As soon as you spy one, keep it in your sights. You need to destroy the tanks before the Forest Shrine’s life bar on the left-hand side of the screen runs out.

How can you destroy a tank, you ask? Easy—blow it up! Explosive shells lie on the ground near the Forest Shrine. Use Pummel Weed’s Weed Creeper technique to go underground. Tunnel over to one of the shells and use Shredder to get underneath. Move near one of the tanks, and pull the left trigger, which will lob an explosive shell at the vehicle. Don’t get too close to the tank, because you may get caught under its spiky wheels. Try to avoid any bombs the Trolls may fire at you with a little evasive maneuvering. Points indicate how much life remains in the tank—a couple of direct hits should get those points to drop to zero.

Repeat the same procedure with the second tank. Destroy them both, and you will hear a rousing round of rejoicing coming from the Enchanted Kingdom’s forces. Congratulations—the Forest Shrine is saved!

Tip: If you save the Shrine only to find a Troll has stolen your horse, pursue the thief and deal him a few jabs with Pummel Weed. This should knock the Troll off your mount. Reclaim your steed and proceed to Mountain Falls!
