Boss Battle: Old Mawood

Old Mawood is a giant, demonic tree and faithful servant of Thorn. Old Mawood holds Halis captive. You will only have Pummel Weed and Rubble available to fight him.

Use Pummel Weed’s Weed Creeper power to get under the explosive shells on the battle field. Use the Uprooter attack to send the shell flying into Old Mawood’s face for an explosive wake-up call. Quickly switch to Rubble, and keep moving!

Old Mawood responds by shaking a cadre of Trolls from his branches. For the most part, as long as you keep moving, these Trolls present little problem. Old Mawood attacks by sending a line of roots at you that erupt from the ground; however, his attack affects the Trolls just as much as you. As long as you keep moving, Old Mawood’s attacks will do most of the work for you and keep the Trolls off your back. 

Once Old Mawood opens his mouth and laughs, move in with Rubble and fire a boulder into his mouth with the Stone Chip power, which causes Old Mawood to choke and is the only way to damage him.

Repeat the process (throwing explosive shells into his face, then a stone into his mouth when he laughs) until Old Mawood is defeated, and Halis is rescued. Halis rewards you with Ash at the conclusion of the battle.
