The Making Of Kameo:

Team Interviews

A great game takes great talent. If you’d like to meet some of the individuals who contributed to the making of Kameo™: Elements of Power™, roam through the links below.

  • Chris Allcock: Writer: The Kameo wordsmith reveals all his secrets and tell us, "Thanks to the game’s unique evolution there have always been challenges and opportunities to explore—I’ve always had a full plate!" You can also meet Chris in our Developer Discussion Forum.

  • George Andreas: Senior Designer: In this interview, George tells us, "The great thing about the game is everyone has their favorite warriors. But the game is all about personal expression to a degree and giving the player a choice in how they combat certain scenarios and situations."

  • Steve Burke: Composer
"I’ll often sit down with George Andreas (Lead Designer) and we’ll talk about a Level or cutscene that needs music. All I’m after are a few key words such as scary, ominous, playful..."

  • Mike Cawood: Cinematics
"I applied to Rare in 1999 and got the job (impressive considering I was an hour late for the interview–I couldn’t find the place!)..." Mike brings out some of his Kameo storybook in storyboards. See the cinematics in their infancy. Cawood Storyboard Gallery.

  • Chris Chamberlain: Test Lead: We couldn't even get Chris to let go of his controller for the duration of the interview! It didn't matter though. He told us a few gems, like, "When MGS first joined forces with Rare in 2002, I volunteered (and pleaded) to work on Kameo."

  • Phil Dunne: Backgrounds
Phil Dunne talked to us about his contribution as the Lead Background Artist for Kameo. He tells us, "Kameo’s world is now so vast she needs a horse to get around."

  • Mark Stevenson: Lead Artist: Kameo Lead Artist Mark Stevenson talks about games, art, and his first gaming addiction. "I was always mad into games starting with the arcade...the original Donkey Kong arcade machine being one of my first addictions."

  • Phil Tossell: Software Lead
Phil joined the Kameo team while it was still being developed for  the original Xbox. His initial task was to implement all the new monsters, but he then found himself promoted to the lead position.

"Why do we suffer this punishment? No clues from history now remain, but I too must saddle the burden of my ancestors and seek out the Elemental Warriors."
